Young people’s choice
Japan, the birthplace and epicenter, manga’s fortunes are sagging sad to say. Circulation of the country’s weekly comic magazines, the essential entry point for any manga series, has fallen by about half over the last decade. Young people are turning their attention away from the printed page and toward the tiny screens on their mobile phones. Fans and critics complain that manga, which emerged in the years after World War II as an strong, uniquely Japanese art form has become as homogenized and risk-averse as the limpest Hollywood blockbuster. However, with the help of the naruto manga, the interest of the youth in manga has once again flourished. In fact there are lots of manga series which are popular to the young people’s choice. One of which is one piece manga, which has something to do with the funny and smart approach of the creator in its characters. I hope that this will continue so that manga will be there to stay.
